Name the climate problem before choosing a percentage

Shade percentage describes light reduction, but it does not describe the whole growing environment. The useful first question is whether you need to lower solar gain, limit peak leaf stress, manage glare, soften sidewall exposure or run a seasonal cover strategy. The answer changes with crop, season, local sun angle, existing roof material, ventilation capacity and whether the cloth is installed inside or outside the structure.

Separate daytime light management from heat retention

Shade cloth primarily changes incoming solar radiation. A single- or double-film system changes the greenhouse envelope and its operating work. A double-layer film arrangement may require compatible inflation equipment, attention to air pressure and regular inspection of tension and sealing. Do not expect a shade material to solve a ventilation problem, or an added film layer to replace routine climate observation.

Use observation as part of selection

After installation, record temperature, humidity, ventilation response and plant condition. A greenhouse cover has to work inside one actual structure, not on a product listing.
